About Us

Foyilsucd team with students

Our Story

Foyilsucd was founded in 2015 by a group of passionate educators and finance professionals concerned about the lack of financial education among Ghanaian youth. Our founder, Kofi Mensah, witnessed firsthand how many young graduates struggled with basic money management after entering the workforce, often falling into debt traps that could have been avoided with proper financial knowledge.

Starting with just three volunteer instructors and a single classroom in Takoradi, we developed our first financial literacy program for secondary school students. The impact was immediate and profound—students began saving, making better spending decisions, and even teaching their families about financial planning.

By 2018, we had expanded to five schools across the Western Region of Ghana and formalized our curriculum into the structured program we offer today. In 2020, we embraced digital learning technologies, creating our first interactive financial literacy app and online resources that have allowed us to reach youth throughout Ghana and beyond.

Today, Foyilsucd serves over 5,000 young people annually through our in-person and digital programs, maintaining our headquarters in Takoradi while expanding our reach across West Africa. Our focus remains unwavering: empowering the next generation with the financial knowledge they need to build secure futures.

"Before joining Foyilsucd's program, I spent my allowance without thinking. Now I have a savings account and I'm even helping my parents budget household expenses. The gamified learning made it fun to learn about topics I thought would be boring. I feel confident about managing money when I go to university next year."
